City Admi'i"rn@) <br /> FROM: Terrance Post, City Accountant 11P <br /> SUBJECT: Charitable Gambling LicensefPremiscs Permit Renewals <br /> At the January 26, 1998 regular Council meeting, Council will be presented with several <br /> resolutions dealing with the above subject. The Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires the <br /> local unit of government to evidence approval by individual resolutions rather than by group <br /> consent. Following is a brief overview of the resolutions. <br /> 1. Resolution No. 98-14, "Resolution Approving Bingo Hall License Renewal <br /> Application" <br /> This renewal application is from applicant Pot 0' Gold for the period from June I, 1998 <br /> to May 31, 1999. Staff is not aware of any issues that would cause staff not to endorse <br /> this resolution. Council may recall the last time this license was renewed that Council <br /> e specifically questioned the applicant on after-session parking lot outflow concerns. <br /> 2. Light Brigade, Inc., Premises Permit Renewals <br /> a. Resolution No, 98-15, "Resolution Approving Light Brigade Charitable Gambling <br /> Bingo Hall Premises Permit Renewal Application." This Premises Permit <br /> renewal involves the applicant's request to continue conducting Class A bingo <br /> operations at the Pot 0' Gold for the period from April I, 1998 to March 31, <br /> 2000. <br /> b. Resolution No. 98-16, "Resolution Approving Light Brigade Charitable Gambling <br /> Premises Permit Renewal Application at Blue Fox." This Premises Permit <br /> renewal involves the applicant's request to continue Class B pull tab operations at <br /> the Blue Fox Inn for the period from April I, 1998 to March 31, 2000. <br /> Staff has no hesitation in endorsing both of these Premise Permit renewal resolutions. <br /> The Light Brigade is an outstanding local organization that prides itself on trying to <br /> contribute 100% of net profits in the form oflocal trade area donations. In the last two <br /> years, the Light Brigade has made over $450,000 in local trade area donations to a variety <br /> of local organizations, including several schools in the Mounds View School District. <br /> e <br /> -------- <br />
