I
I. Capitalized Cost For Alternative B
I Initial Construction Cost $389,125.00
+ City Maintenance Cost*(2:(lI(l +i)^n1)* $1,200.00*(3.7149)
I +Contract Maintenance Cost*(!I(! +i)^n2)* $14.350.00*(.3012)
Total Capitalizcd Cost For Alternative B $397,905.10
I *Where i is assumed to be 4.0%, n1 = 5,10,15,20,25,35,40,45,50,55 representing the
periodic City maintenance years and n2 = 30 representing the contract maintenance year.
I ALTERNATIVE C
Descrivtion
I The project includes the construction of a gravity sanitary sewer main extending from the current
location of Lift Station #11 south approximately 3,700 feet to connect to an existing 21 inch city
I interceptor sewer recently constructed along 14th Street N.E. The pipeline would run along the
west side of Round Lake within a proposed easement to be dedicated along the eastern edge of
the Gateway Business District properties and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife property surrounding
I Round Lake. The alignment would then run between the proposed Welsh Companies Phase II
and Phase III developments before connecting to the sewer in 14th Street.
,- The gravity sewer main would be constructed with 10 inch diameter PVC pipe and would
include manholes approximately every 300 feet. The sewer would require casing pipe under
Highway 96 in order to allow for future maintenance without disruption to Highway 96. A650
, foot length of 8" PVC pipe would also be constructed along the southern edge of the Indykiewicz
property which would connect the existing Gateway easement sewer to the new sewer in West
Round Lake Road. The depth of the sewer would range from 16 to 24 feet adjacent to Round
, Lake and 24 to 34 feet near its termination in the Welsh development.
It is assumed that the roadway would be constructed in conjunction with the reconstruction of
I Highway 96. Constructing the sewer with the roadway project would allow costs associated
with pavement removal, traffic control and restoration of pavement and boulevard to be charged
I to the roadway improvements therefore lowering the costs for the sewer project.
Although this alternative provides a more direct route from the current lift station to the 21 inch
I sewer, it creates several concerns. The alignment would require easement acquisition from the
existing properties in the Gateway Business District as well as additional easement dedication
from the Welsh Properties. Alternative C would also require clearing and grubbing
I approximately 2.0 acres along the Round Lake segment of the alignment. This alternative would
likely require more dewatering than alternative B due to the closer proximity to Round Lake and
the slope to the west of the alignment.
I
,e s
I
