Ramsey County is proposing to redevelop Tony Schmidt Park in Arden Hills.
The redevelopment consists of improvements in the area of the Lake Johanna Beach and the
creation of an extensive trail network from this point up to the parks northerly terminus on
County Road F, west of the Mounds View High School. The active areas are generally at the southern one-
third of the park, on either side of Lake Johanna Boulevard. These active areas include the
beach and picnic area as well as play areas. The northern two-thirds of the park primarily
contains passive recreational and natural areas. This area of the park is dominated by a large
wetland complex which conveys the water from the City's lakes to Rice Creek. The concept
plan provides for five trail heads into the park. Those trailheads are: Lake Johanna Beach;
Lake Johanna recreation area (north of Lake Johanna Boulevard); Hudson Road; Ramsey
County Library; and Mounds View High School.
.
--.--,
