Community Meeting Space - A move to a different location does not necessarily <br /> affect the ability to provide community meeting space. Specifically, this refers to <br /> the fact that the City Council and Planning Commission meetings are held in the <br /> City of New Brighton. The ability to find space where these meetings can be <br /> brought back into Arden Hills has both a financial as well as a community benefit. <br /> . Cable Access - This is important for two reasons. First, the new GIS system <br /> operates off of the direct feed from the North Suburban Cable Commission. <br /> Without the cable drop, the City will be unable to use the GIS system which is <br /> now operational. Second, cable is needed in order for the City to provide <br /> information on Channel 16 including replays of the City Council meetings. <br /> Neither site currently has cable. but the Cable company has indicated that they <br /> believe they will be able to provide a drop at either site. <br /> . Phvsical separation of Public WorkslParks maintenance from management staff. <br /> Even in a new building at Sunfish Lake this would occur; so the lease period <br /> might be useful to evaluate operational issues of this separation. <br /> Items which need to be considered immediately are: . <br /> 1. Communication (radio phones. etc...) - The City currently operates a radio <br /> system to communicate with the maintenance workers. By moving, the <br /> current system becomes inoperable. Staff is investigating whether a <br /> temporary antenna system can be used. <br /> 2. Alarm system - The City Hall and Maintenance Garage use an alarm <br /> system in order to determine whether or not there are any problems with <br /> the lift stations. By relocating, City Hall staff will not have the ability to <br /> monitor the system until such time that the SCADA system is put into <br /> operation. <br /> The alarm company has indicated that it can be arranged such that the <br /> alarm company can contact by phone or pager an individual on staff to <br /> notify them immediately in case of a problem. <br /> In general, the advantages of leasing space are that it would buy time until the preferred location <br /> is available and satisfy the immediate need for upgraded work space. The primary disadvantages <br /> would be the monthly lease costs not currently being incurred and potential disruption of some <br /> city services. <br /> . <br /> ------- <br />
