Compliance of the plans as shown in Exhibit A, pages 1 of 2 and 2 of 2, contained within <br /> the Staff report, dated May 6, 1998. <br /> 2. Provision of detailed exterior drawings for the addition prior to consideration of this <br /> request by the City Council. <br /> Mr. Ringwald stated that, if approved, the Planning Case would be heard before the City COLIncil <br /> on Tuesday, May 26,1998. <br /> Chair Erickson acknowledged that the applicant was present and asked Commissioners if they <br /> had any questions for the applicant, No one responded. <br /> Chair Erickson inquired if neighbors of the applicant had stated any concern about this Variance. <br /> Mr. Ringwald stated that no concerns had been brought before him. <br /> Commissioners Sand and Larson inquired if the Variance diminished the neighbors' view of <br /> Lake Josephine. <br /> Mr. Arlyn Solberg, 3232 Nnrth Hamline Avenue, applicant, stated that the kitchen addition . <br /> does not diminish the neighbors' view of Lake Josephine. <br /> Commissioner Galatowitsch inquired if there would be steps and a door on the new addition. Mr. <br /> Solberg stated that there would be steps leading to the addition from the lake side of the home. <br /> Commissioner Sand asked Mr. Ringwald if the Commissioners could have detailed exterior <br /> drawings before making a decision on this Variance. Mr. Solberg providcd the drawings and <br /> explained the drawings, including the current structurc and the proposed addition, to the <br /> Commissioners. <br /> Mr. Ringwald requested clarification from the applicant that the addition would utilize building <br /> materials that matched the existing structure. Mr. Solberg stated that proposed exterior would <br /> match the existing materials of the home. <br /> Chair Erickson noted that the proposal before the Commission was better than the proposal six <br /> months ago. Chair Erickson also stated that this proposal was a prudent compromise since the <br /> roof and foundation of the structure remained unchanged and the two adjacent lots provided a <br /> buffer to the properties in nearby lots. <br /> Commissioner Larson inquired if the applicant could build a deck in the future if he desired one. <br /> Mr. Ringwald stated that the applicant would have to get a Variance from the City ifhe desired <br /> to build a deck in the future. . <br />
