Administrator Comments for the August 31, 1998 Council Meeting <br /> Page Five <br /> August 28, 1998 <br /> b, Temporary Citv Hall <br /> Staff obtained additional free furniture from the Minnesota <br /> Teachers Retirement Association to complete the office build out. <br /> Intemet equipment was secured and installed. Additional playback <br /> and recording equipment for the video production and cable access <br /> program was obtained. North Suburban Cable Commission <br /> representatives have not yet installed all of this equipment, so it is <br /> not fully operational. <br /> c. New Citv Hall . <br /> Staff continues to work with the architect on the design plans for <br /> City Hall. The site plan was presented and approved by the <br /> Planning Commission on August 5'h, The project will be presented <br /> to thc City Council on August 31 'I. A revised schedule has been <br /> prepared for the development of construction plans and bidding of <br /> the project. Staff will begin meeting with the National Guard in <br /> September to work on the development of a lease, <br /> . 3. Community Development <br /> Regarding general participation in community development, staff has been <br /> involved in ongoing conversations that involve the code enforcement <br /> process. Other site issues related to Welsh (Phases III and IV), <br /> landscaping and vandalism to the railroad cars have also taken place, <br /> Staff made a presentation to the 1-35W Corridor Coalition regarding Arden <br /> Hills' concerns about funding the Highway 96 project. The Coalition has <br /> agreed to use its funds to help Arden Hills solicit funding opportunities. <br /> a. TCAAP <br /> The City met with Fox 29 officials and responded in writing to the <br /> company that the City did not find the proposed TV tower <br /> acceptable on TCAAP, Staff also made presentations to the Cities <br /> of Shore view, North Oaks and New Brighton regarding the tower <br /> and received their support to oppose the project. Stafffrom <br /> Congressman Vento's Washington, D.C. office indicated support <br /> for the Arden Hills position, and will continue to monitor any <br /> activities with the FCC that may be related to the proposed tower. <br /> . <br />
