<br /> .- . <br />Department Head Report <br />Page 2 <br /> . <br />Public Works <br />In addition to regular maintenance duties, Public Works employees have worked on the <br />following this month: <br />. Removed old driveway pavement from the South Water ToweriBooster Station access <br /> driveway and repaved the driveway with a rented paving machine. <br />. Flushed all City Water Mains <br />. Drained and inspected South Water Tower maintenance work performed by contractor <br /> last year. (I year warranty is near expiration) Inspection went well. <br />. Distributed and collected water samples for required annual testing. <br />. Attended Defensive Driving and Snowplow Operators classes in Shoreview. <br />. Attended State sponsored Fall Maintenance Expo. <br />. Applied Class V road base to Vaughn property entrance easement. <br />. Completed quarterly water meter reading. . <br />. Conducted inspection of utility portion of 1998 Street Improvement Project. <br />. Mixed 250 tons of salt/sand and stockpiled. <br />. Moved plows and sanders back to Public Works Facility and readied for trucks. (Plows <br /> and sanders are stored at the South Water Tower during summer months.) <br />. Moved summer equipment back to the SOLlth Water Tower for winter storage. <br />Mr. Reed returned to work on October 19, 1998 as planned following medical problems. <br />I'.arks. <br />Parks employees have worked on the following items this month in addition to their regular <br />duties: <br />. Attended Defensive Driving and Snowplow Operators classes. <br />. Servicing summer equipment for winter storage. <br />. Cleaned out flower beds and vegetable gardens. <br />. Trimming of trail trees and brush. . <br />. Winterized Perry Park irrigation system. <br />
