. .. . Administrator Comments for the October 26, 1998 Council Meeting Page Three October 23, 1998 We've been accommodating absentee voting for residents at City Hall during normal working hours. In addition, City offices will be open October 31" and November 20d after hours for absentee voting. 2. City Hallllpdate a. Old City Hall Staff completed the demolition specifications for the Old City Hall site. The specifications have been sent to several agencies in order to solicit bids. Once bids are received, the City Council will need to select the contractor to complete the work. I will be in contact with the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department about their use of the building for training prior to the demolition. b. Temporary City Hall The North Suburban Cable Commission finally completed training with City staff on the use of our new computerized playback . system. Staff will most likely put in some overtime to learn the system without any interruptions. The Cable Commission staff has also been working on the audio system in the Council Chambers. They had indicated it would be done by now, but to-date, there is still work to complete. c. New City Hall . The City Hall Subcommittee toured several City Halls and the Metropolitan Airport Commission (MAC) Board Room for ideas on Council Chamber layout and the audio/visual design. The City conducted the tour with our architect and the A V consultant hired to complete interior design and A V services. Staff also met with the architect on several occasions to work on design fees, furniture design services and the City Hall budget. . Staff began meeting with attorneys from the National Guard to begin discussions on the lease agreement for City Hall. Attorney Filla and the National Guard are currently reviewing the various federal rcgulations that will affect any lease. .
