Mr. Matheson indicated he had spoken with the Police Department and Guidant and had been . assured by Guidant that this parking situation would be alleviated. However, it still occasionally occurs. Mr. Matheson expressed his concern of how more buildings can be added to the parking lot which would reduce the number of parking spaces. Mr. Ringwald explained that the proposed addition would not reduce the number of parking spaces. He noted Floral Drive is not marked for no-parking and the City has the option to post the road for no-parking, however, this would apply to all people, The residents along the street would no longer be able to park on the street either. Mr. Ringwald pointed out that Floral Drive is a public street and he believes it is not illegal to park in front of mail boxes. Mr. Ringwald suggested the property owner request the Public Works and Safety Committee to evaluate whether Floral Drive should be posted for no-parking. Commissioner Rye suggested temporary no-parking signage could be used during events. He asked if this could be made a condition for when the events are held. Mr. Matheson indicated he contacted City Hall and was informed when the company holds events which involve tents they may be required to obtain a permit depending on the nature of the event. Commissioner Galatowitsch asked how often the events occur, Mr. Matheson stated that they occur several times through out the summer. He noted he does not have an issue with the . parking on the street, just the parking in front of the mailboxes. Commissioner Galatowitsch asked if this issue affects the other roads in the area. Mr' Matheson indicated it does not, Floral Drive is used because it is closer to where the events take place. Mr. Ringwald stated that it would not be an unusual situation for the Public Works and Safety Committee to consider the installation of temporary or permanent no-parking signs. Commissioner Sand stated that Mr' Matheson's concerns are well taken, however, the Planning Commission is not the correct committee to address the issue. He also noted the current proposal does not relate to this issue. Commissioner Sand noted this may be an internal issue with Guidant and suggested they consider moving the parties to the back parking lot as a matter of public relations with the neighbors. Mr. Dave Reimer, Guidant, stated that, during the last week of July, the company holds an event called Quality Week. A tent is used and panels of approximately six patients are brought in and the employees are told about their implants. Commissioner Galatowitsch suggested the literature used to advertise the events could include information that parking is not allowed on the street during the event.
