CITY OF ARDEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: December 30, 1998 TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator ~ FROM: SUBJECT: Dwayne Stafford, Pnblic Works Superintendent Monthly Department Head Report Pnhlic Safety Commission The City of Arden Hills Public Safety Commission did not meet in December. 1998 Street Improvement Project Only a few of the long punch list items have been addressed. Staff expects the contractor will attend to the remaining punch list items next spring. 1999 Street Project Bidding on West Round Lake Road Phase I which was scheduled for December 17, 1998 has been rescheduled for January 14, 1999 to allow staff more time to work out some complications. Lift Station #3 The Lift Station #3 reconstruction is going well. The deepest, wettest, most difficult part of the project is complete. Some shoring and pumping were necessary to provide for a firm base for the new lift station structure which is about 25 feet deep. Public Works Department In addition to their regular maintenance duties, Public Works employees have worked on the following this month: . One week of tree trimming and chipping in the southeast portion of the City with equipment borrowed from the City of Shoreview. . Repaired water main break on Venus Avenue on December 30 (the coldest day of the winter so far). . Street sanding on three occasions. . Removed and replaced electric motor on Lift Station #8 (Hamline Avenue and Ingerson Road) which burned out, causing approximately $4,000 worth of damage to motor and control panel. . Started 4"' quarter water meter readings. Parks Departmeut Parks employee activities this month included; . Constructing a lean-to addition to the Maintenance Building for storing recyclables and drain oil (eliminates collectors need to access Maintenance Garage).
