New commercial/industrial construction <br /> up 29% to $46M over the six year <br /> average of $36M <br /> . Renovation of commercial/industrial <br /> space totaled $40M <br /> . The value of new honsing was up 46% <br /> to $89M from $61M over the six year <br /> average <br />I Coalition Demographic Update I <br /> The NM I-35W Corridor Coalition is the <br /> 3rd largest community in Minnesota by <br /> way of population with over 155,000 <br /> residents. The Coalition is located in 3 <br /> counties and 6 school districts. With 83 <br /> square miles of land there are 55,000 <br /> homes, 4,000 businesses with 85,000 jobs. <br /> There are 775 miles of streets, 43 miles of <br /> rail line, 3,000 acres of public parks and <br /> open space and 16,500 acres of lakes and <br /> wet1ands. <br />I 1999 Coalition Work Plan I <br /> The Coalitions' 1999 Work Plan includes the <br /> following: <br /> . Implement GIS training program for all <br /> designated member staff <br /> . Implement new and innovative GIS <br /> applications such as <br /> .,.. web-based mapping tools for Coalition <br /> members and the public <br /> .,.. develop 1inks to other sources of <br /> information, e.g., the Organi7"tion of <br /> Commercial Reahors and <br /> .,.. create innovate methods to automatica1ly <br /> update the data base <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.,.. Develop GIS protocol for the protection, <br />use and distribution of the data <br />. Support GIS Coordinator project <br />. Implement Phase I, Track 2 of the <br />Coalition's Comprehensive Livable <br />Community Urban Design and <br />Transportation Study - specifically to <br />construct an interjurisdictional planning <br />and development framework that is <br />integrated and coordinated at the <br />municipal level <br />. Implement a Stage 2 Transportation and <br />Transit Study <br />. Implement a Stage 2 Housing Study <br />. Implement a Stage 1 Environment Study <br />. Implement a Coalition coordinated <br />marketing program <br />. Implement a Stage 2 Socioeconomic- <br />Demographic Study <br />. Adopt a Code of Ethics to foster trust <br />and mutual respect among members <br />when dealing with issues of economic <br />development and redevelopment <br />.
