<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />~~~~1J <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - APRIL 7,1999 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />Avenue comer and the New Brighton Road comers, should be subject to the Gateway elements <br />of the Comprehensive Development Plan and the County Road D study. <br /> <br />COUNCIL REPORT <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that Mr. Thomas Moore had been hired as the new Parks and <br />Recreation Director to replace Cindy Walsh who recently took a position with the City of Saint <br />Louis Park. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that Fox 29 has been discussing the construction of the proposed <br />tower in their original location, which was their first choice. The Arsenal had been their second <br />choice and the Vaughn property their third choice. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that, as part of Ramsey County's turn-back road program, the City <br />of Arden Hills would be receiving Lake Johanna Boulevard, from Country Road D to County <br />Road E. The City does not want to acquire this roadway as it is in need of rebuilding and this <br />would be a difficult project. The County has suggested New Brighton Road as an alternative that <br />is longer but in better condition. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that the purchase of the Indykiewicz property had been completed <br />and the residents have moved out. With the purchase of the property, the City acquired the <br />equipment, which will be auctioned (jll site at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 1999. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that the road construction of West Round Lake Road is ready to <br />begin and the project is anticipated to cost $800,000. The road will bend to the east and the <br />excess land may be a consideration for the Neighborhood Business District. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that the City Hall bids are in and the cost for the project will be <br />approximately $3 million dollars. The land purchase has not yet been completed and the City <br />has until June 11, 1999 to finalize the agreement. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson asked what the estimate had been for the new City Hall. Councilmember <br />Malone stated that the bids came in within a couple percent of the estimate. He noted that the $3 <br />million dollars is for everything, including furniture and landscaping. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone stated that the City of Arden Hills is involved in preliminary discnssions <br />with MNDOT regarding Hamline Avenue and Highway 694 which may involve $40 million <br />dollars worth of work. <br /> <br />With regard to Planning Case 99-01, Official Map Amendment, Councilmember Malone stated <br />that, at their last City Council meeting, the Council voted to deny the amendment to the Official <br />Map and to approve the construction of two temporary cul-de-sacs. <br /> <br />COMMISSION COMMENTS <br /> <br />Commissioner Rye asked Councilmember Malone if there was a status on the creation of a <br />website for the City of Arden Hills. Councilmember Malone stated that the City Council <br />recently updated the Committee system. He indicated that there is a plan in place to create a <br />Communication Committee, which would involve items such as the newsletter and a website. <br />
