A main street <br />image is introduced through the <br />use of storefront parking, pedestrian <br />scale lighting and seating, sidewalk <br />pavers and storefront plantings.. <br />In an effort to preserve the pedes- <br />trian-oriented character of main <br />street the majority of parking for <br />the development is located to the <br />rear of buildings, <br /> <br />The Architectural Design Standards <br />for the project borrow from trad- <br />itional midwestern examples and <br />time-honored designs of European <br />communities. Architects of in- <br />dividual buildings within the project <br />are encouraged to create unique <br />solutions which contribute to the <br />character of a traditional "Village" <br />setting. The buildings ar rhe core <br />of the project face Main Street <br />with retail at street level and re- <br />sidential units on the second and <br />third floors. Smaller-scale com- <br />mercial and retril uses are encomaged <br />to contribute to the main street <br />image of the projecr, Office build- <br />ings are located at the periphery <br />of the development in an effort <br />to segregate their parking from the <br />retail core. <br /> <br />BRW provided site planning, project <br />management, landscape architecture, <br />civil engineering and wetlands <br />delineation for this unique master <br />planned community. The success <br />of the project is the byproduct of <br />a close association between BRW, <br />the developer, project arrhirecr and <br />Ciry staff.
