<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - NOVEMBER 8,1999 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />COllilcilmember Malone stated that the Lake Johanna Volllilteer Fire Relief Association had 3.8 <br />million dollars available. He stated that there would be a meeting held on December I, 1999. <br />Since he was the Arden I-Iills representative, and was resigning from the Council, he asked that <br />another Councilmember take his place. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson asked if the representatives were able to vote. Councilmember Malone <br />stated that they were. COllilcilmember Larson asked if the City of Shoreview was represented in <br />the Association. COllilcilmember Malone stated that they are. He indicated that one issue with <br />tile Association was that they try to give themselves more benefits than they have money for and <br />he was concerned that the local cities be represented. He stated that the Association met four <br />times per year, plus the second Saturday in January. He also noted that there will be an opening <br />on the Transportation Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst asked tlmt Councilmembcr Larson attend the next meeting of the Lake Johanna <br />Volunteer Fire Board Association meeting. COllilcilmember Larson agreed. <br /> <br />With regard to the next Town Hall meeting, Councilmember Aplikowski asked if the City <br />Council would prefer this meeting be held in January or April of 2000. She suggested that the <br />retreat be held prior to thc Town Hall meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that he would prefer for the Town Hall meeting to be held in conjunction <br />with the spring ground breaking at City Hall and suggested that Bethel College would be the <br />preferred location. Councilmember Larson suggested the Armory be considered for the Town <br />Hall meeting in order for the meeting to be held closer to the ground breaking event. Mayor <br />Probst agreed and added that Land 0' Lakcs and the CPI campus could also be considered. <br />Councilmember Malone noted that Control Data had a large auditorium. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski stated that she had been considering the opening on the <br />Transportation Advisory Board and asked when the meetings were held. Councilmember <br />Malone stated that the Transportation Advisory Board met the third Wednesday ofthe month at <br />1:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that at its October 26, 1999 meeting, the Parks and Recreation <br />Committee had discussed the fees charged to residents versus non-residents. The Committee had <br />voted in favor of an additional five dollar fee for non-residents. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that the Parks and Recreation Committee and suggested that a <br />worksession be held in January 2000 to review basic docwnents such as the budget, long-range <br />plan and Comprehcnsive Plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that the Parks and Recreation Committee had requested volunteers <br />to work on the 2001 anniversary event.
