Especially encourage testing <br />of water quality in Little Lake Johanna, Lake Valentine and Round <br />Lake. Arden Hills should consider adopting and taking responsibility <br />for a volunteer oriented testing program, A stenciling program to <br />define storm sewer outflows should also be considered, <br /> <br />Method/Implementation: <br />Facilitate participation in volunteer water testing programs/Storm <br />sewer stenciling program using the Metropolitan Council lake moni- <br />toring program, RCWD, Ramsey County and other public and private <br />resources. Maintain communication with RCWD as programs develop <br />and cooperate to help implement programs. Provide access to cer- <br />tain sites as requested, Contact educational and civic organizations <br />within the City to encourage participation and development of ongo- <br />ing programs. The City might support this effort or another using <br />stuffers in the quarterly water bills. e <br /> <br />Cost/Resources: Water quality monitoring equipment may be avail- <br />able via a Metro Council grant program by summer, The City should <br />apply for testing equipment on behalf of the volunteer programs, The <br />City might provide storage and issuance of Water monitoring equip- <br />ment acquired through grants and replenish chemical regents as <br />needed. These are low cost items (less than $50,00 - $100,00) per <br />year and may be available from the County, Staff time may be used <br />to arrange for pickup and checkout from City Hall. <br /> <br />Relative rating for cost - Low <br /> <br />e <br />
