Yv\ FROM: SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Second Quarter Report Parks . Completed a citywide survey of Parks, Trails and Recreation for the Comprehensive Park Plan process, The surveys were mailed to every resident of Arden Hills. The response rate was 15%. . Organized four citywide community meetings for the Comprehensive Park Plan process. . Participated in the City's 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 23. 2001. . Playstructures, complete with safety boxes, were installed at Sampson Park and Floral Park. . Completion of Phase II of the Arden Manor Park improvement project. The following work was completed; a fence around the basketball court, blacktop the access road, final grade and sod laid . Two members were added to the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee. Total of 10 members. . 38 Birdhouses installed by the Boy Scouts at Crepeau Park. . Trail improvements at Crepeau Nature Preserve . Tree work completed at Sampson Park. Floral Park and Ingerson Park, . Vandalism, graffiti, occurred at Valentine Park, Hazelnut Park and Cummings Park. All incidents were reported to Ramsey County Sheriff. . Safety Fence for team benches installed at Valentine Park . State Mandated bleachers were installed at Perry Park. Hazelnut Park and Floral Park. . Swing Set safety pads installed at Cummings Park and Perry Park . Friends ofthe Parks tree plantings at Sampson Park, Floral Park and Hazelnut Park. . Hired three summer part-time workers, All three worked for the City last year. . Park staff attended workshops/seminars on; small engine repair, Toro lawnmowers, confined space, tree inspection, and weed control. . Adopt-a-Flower Garden program was held on May 19,2001. The program includes 16 Gardens and 62 volunteers. . Adopt-a-Park program has 12 volunteers, . Adopt-a.Trail program has 5 volunteers. e e
