'l'v'\ <br />Works Director ' <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />2001 Third Quarter Report - Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Parks <br /> <br />Fall Turf Management program completed at all City Parks. This includes aeration, <br />fertilizer and seeding. <br />All Park picnic shelters have been rust proofed and re-painted. <br />The two tennis courts and the basketball court area at Cummings Park have been <br />resurfaced. <br />All Park entrance gates and basketball poles have been painted. <br />All picnic tables and trashcans have been repainted. <br />Staff planted 135 Daylilies and Hostas at Floral Park. <br />Eagle Scout project was completed at Floral Park in which 350 perennials were <br />planted in three newly constructed raised flowerbeds. <br />Eagle Scout project was completed in which 13 new park benches were built and <br />installed at five different City Parks and along City Trails. <br />Eagle Scout project was completed at Crepeau Park. The project involved Buckthorn <br />removal and the placing of wood chips on new trail sections. <br />New directional street signage was installed for Crepeau Park. <br />Playground street sign age was installed for Freeway Park, Valentine Park and <br />Ingerson Park. Every City Park now has playground street signage. <br />All Park trees have been trimmed and received a layer of wood chip mulch. <br />All swing set safety boxes have received a new layer of safety wood fiber. <br />All playground equipment received a safety inspection. Three swing seats were <br />deemed not safe and were replaced. <br />New youth soccer field was established at Valentine Park. <br />Members of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee (PTRC) have surveyed all <br />City Trails. Within a two-year period, every City Park and Trail has been surveyed by <br />the PTRC. <br /> <br />Recreation <br /> <br />. 82 programs were offered. 94 were offered in 2000. <br />. 2,056 have participated in those 82 programs. 2,032 participated in the 94 programs <br />offered in 2000. <br />
