The road curves south, west of Lexington Avenue. Environmental
considerations associated with this alternate are similar to those for Alternate 1.

The key points of Alternate 2 are:
. 2.0 acres of wetland are filled.
. In order to eliminate traffic on the existing County Road I alignment near Turtle
Lake Elementary School, that portion of the road would terminate at a cul-de-sac.
Conflicts with school traffic would decrease.
. It requires the use of Ramsey County open space land at the intersection of County
Road I and Hamline A venue and of floodplain.
. It requires a vertical crest on a horizontal curve west of Lexington A venue. This
condition is undesirable in Ihat the driver cannot perceive the horizontal change in
alignment especially at night when the headlight beams go straight ahead into space.
. It impacts the perimeter road and fence at the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant
near Lexington A venue.
. It requires an on-grade bridge near Hamline Avenue and immediately west of
Lexington Avenue over the St. Paul Water Utility conduits.

(\'~llliy Rod I

:\U;,:u:~t '~nn l

Pl(jV~:( ])\.:vcl\'pn'll..'ll1 RCP(1:1

P:il-"'- (j

I
