<br />Parks and Recreation Purchase of a Replacement I Ton Truck <br />February 21,2002 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />'., <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Bud{!et <br />The proposed replacement vehicle will be a 2002 Ford F450, Super Duty, 4x4 Truck with a 7.3L <br />Power Stroke Diesel engine, trailer tow package, snow plow package and maximum traction <br />tread tires. The cost ofthis vehicle is vehicle, with Sales Tax and License included is $31,652.87. <br />It will cost an additional $1,000.00 to have the vehicle painted Arden Hills tan. <br /> <br />Utilities, with Sales tax, will cost an additional $24,673.92. These utilities included a 9ft Dump <br />Body, trailer tow package, snow plow package and a Whelen Dot III Light System. <br /> <br />Costs <br />The final cost for the 2002 Ford F450 Super Duty, 4x4 Truck, including Utilities, Sales tax and <br />License is $ 56,326.79. The cost breakdown is listed below; <br /> <br />Vehicle <br />Utilities <br />Painting <br /> <br />$31,652.87 <br />$24,673.92 <br />$1,000.00 <br /> <br />The 2002 Public Works Equipment CIP budget for the feplacement of Public Works vehicle <br />#106 is $55,000.00. This leaves a deficit of$I,326.79. <br /> <br />State Surplus Auction e <br />There is a fall session of the State Surplus Auction. Staff anticipates that Public Works vehicle <br />#106 will sell for approximately $20,000.00. There is a 7% service charge for participating in <br />the auction. The service charge on a $20,000.00 sales price would be $1,400.00. This would <br />result in a net profit of$ 18,600.00 from the sale of Public Works vehicle #106. The net profit is <br />considered revenue and is directed to the General Fund and can not be directed to defer the cost <br />of the new replacement vehicle. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of a new 2002 Ford F450 Super <br />Duty, 4x4 Truck, painted according to Arden Hills specs and installation of proper truck utilities, <br />at a cost not to exceed $56,326.79. Staff further recommends that Public Works vehicle #106 be <br />placed in the fall session of State Surplus Auction. <br /> <br />. <br />
