PMP Discussion

Mr. Lynch updated Council on the PMP Discussion. He indicated they did not at this time have
a Plan B project. He asked ifCollilcil wffilted staffto look at a Plan B project now.

Mayor Probst indicated he was comfortable with the path they were following.

Councilmember Larson requested staff inform them of the assessment level on the last project
the City embarked on. Mr. Post stated the project was in 1998, and he believed the
reconstruction rate for Fairview Avenue and Edgewater was $41.00 per foot. He indicated he
had looked at the cost increase and the costs appeared to be escalating at approx. 4% per year.
He stated the estimate they had was within a $1.00 per foot of that rate.

e

Mr, Lynch stated there were no common areas in this project; they were all single-family homes.

Councilmember Larson asked if there was any other work the engineers were proposing other
than street reconstruction. Mr. Post replied one of the concerns was the uncertainty of the base
ofthe roads needed to get to the cul-de-sacs. He indicated one of the fears was the destruction of
the roads leading to the cul-de-sacs. He stated this was a deviation from what was originally
proposed.

Mr. Lynch stated he did not think there were any additional costs involved in this and ifthat did
occur, they would need to come back to Council.

Councilmember Larson asked if they were proposing to pull up the existing street and leave the
existing curb and gutter. Mr. Post replied the engineer had not done any soil borings yet, but if
the engineer found it was necessary to replace the curb and gutter, it would need to be done.

Councilmember Larson stated if they were not going to tear up the curb and gutter, he believed
this was a substantial increase in costs,

Mayor Probst stated he hoped the estimate included the curb and gutter and that the engineer
would not replace the curb and gutter if it was not absolutely necessary,

Councilmember Larson requested if the engineer's estimate did have a replacement for curb and .
gutter, and curb and gutter replacement was not necessary, the engineer's estimate would be
brought down.
