ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
MAY 28, 2002

16

.

Council Member Aplikowski stated the positions were combined ten years ago and
prior to that, they were separate. Mr. Post replied for 40 of the 50 years, a member
of the community trained in financial matters filled the City Treasurer, and when
the City Accountant was hired, those duties were not incorporated into the
Treasurer's position.

Council Member Aplikowski stated she believed these were two separate things
and she was struggling as to where they should go. She stated she did not know if
there was enough work for a separate Treasurer position.

Council Member Grant stated Mr. Post had performed both the Accountant and
Treasurer duties well, and from the organizational chart, it appeared these positions
were one. He stated he agreed with the first six recommendations.

Council Member Larson indicated Mr. Post should be able to express his views
directly to Council as he had in the past.

Mayor Probst stated he believed these positions were one pOSItIOn and urged .
Council to adopt the first six findings as recommended by Mr. Lynch.

Council Member Aplikowski asked what brought this up after ten years. She
asked if there was something going on that would prevent Mr. Post from coming to
the Council directly. Mr. Post replied he could not cite any individual case or
person and this was a philosophical issue.

.
