.

.

.

Mitil!ation

Guidant is currently working with the City, County and MnlDOT to identify appropriate
roadway improvements and potential finding sources for these improvements. The Final
AUAR will include a Mitigation Plan that identifies measures proposed to minimize traffic
impacts. The Mitigation Plan will also identify the timing and financial responsibility of
proposed improvements.

Travel Demand Manal!ement

Traffic impacts created by the proposed development can be minimized through the
application of Travel Demand Management (TDM) measures. TDM measures can help to
minimize the number of trips generated by the proposed development. Guidant
Corporation is currently working with Metro Commuter Services to identify potential TDM
measures that will be successful in reducing site-generated trips during the peak hour. A
survey of existing Guidant employees is currently underway to identify current commuter
routes and practices, interest in alternatives to driving alone, attractiveness of incentives for
using alternative modes of travel, and other issues that will influence the effectiveness of a
TDM plan.

Once the results of the survey have been reviewed and analyzed, Guidant will work with
Metro Commuter Services to develop TDM strategies that Guidant can promote to their
employees. Examples of possible TDM measures include:

.

Carpooling, including preferential parking spaces for carpoolers
Flexible work schedules

.

.

Providing a display of commuter information for employees, including information on
rideshare, transit schedules and bicycling commuting routes

.

Discounted commuter passes provided by employer paying a share of the total pass

The Final AUAR will summarize the results ofthe survey and will include TDM measures
Guidant is interested in promoting. It is reasonable to expect that a long-term commitment
to coordinated application of TDM measures by Guidant could be successful in reducing
trips generated during the peak hours.

22.
