Would granting the variance alter the essential character of the neighborhood? No. The effect of the garage should not alter the character ofthis neighborhood. Furthermore, the Zoning Ordinance allows principal buildings and attached garages to be constructed at the distance the applicant is requesting. 6. Is the variance requested the minimum variance necessary? Yes. The variance of five feet will allow the applicant to construct the garage five feet from the west property line and prevent the applicant from having to relocate a portion of their driveway. Deadline for Al!encv Actions The City of Arden Hills received the completed application for this request on October 28, 2002. Pursuant to Minnesota State Statue, the city must act on this request by December 27, 2002 (60 days), unless the City provides the petitioner with written reasons for an additional 60 day review period. The city may with the petitioner's consent extend the review period beyond the 120 days. Options I. Recommend approval as submitted. 2. Reconunend approval with conditions. 3.
