.

.

.

ARDEN HILLS REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 9, 2002 7

John Scheller, stated the Rice Creek Watershed District proposed that they
increased the frequency of street cleaning to three times a year and asked the City
to follow that suggestion.

Mayor Probst closed the public hearing at 8:31 p.m.

Mayor Probst asked the Council if they wanted to proceed with the Pleasant Drive
reconstruction, what width and type of curb they wanted.

Wilbert Becker, 4435 Pleasant Drive, stated the curb in front of his home was in
need of repair and requested it be fixed.

Council Member Aplikowski recommended a 28-foot width street, with a four-
inch barrier curb unless upon meeting with the neighbors, they come up with a
different request.

A resident asked why they were recommending narrowing the street. Mr. Brown
replied it was a cost saving factor.

The resident stated she liked the width of their street the way it was,

MOTION: Council Member Aplikowski moved and Council Member
Larson seconded a motion to reconstruct Pleasant Drive to a 28
foot width street with a four inch barrier curb.

MOTION: Council Member Larson moved and Mayor Probst seconded a
motion to amend the previous motion to replace the four inch
barrier with a six inch barrier, so it was consistent with the rest
of the area.

Council Member Rem stated she believed the City needed to give the residents of
that street the opportunity to discuss this. Council Member Larson agreed and
stated they needed to poll the neighbors, but they needed to make a
recommendation tonight. If after getting feedback from the residents, the residents
wanted something different, the City could change their recommendation.

Council Member Aplikowski spoke against the amendment.
