I I I I I I :- I 3.1 WILDLIFE AND ECOLOGICALLY SENSITIVE RESOURCES 3.1.1 Summary of Impacts There is a possibility that Blanding's turtles (Emydoidea blandingii), a state-listed threatened species, could use portions of the AUAR study area, particularly Wetland L in the northwesterly portion of the study area. 3.1.2 Mitigation Measures A list of recommendations for avoiding and minimizing impacts to Blanding's turtles and their habitat was provided by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. These rccommendations will be implemented, where feasible. The measures that will likely be appropriate for project construction include: l. Placement of silt fencing around construction areas to keep turtjes out of construction areas in the spring. 2. Notifying contractors of the possibility of threatened turtles in the area and instructions on how to avoid harm to turtles if they are spotted. 3_ Minimization of impacts to wetlands on the site. 4. Preservation of un-mowed upland buffer around wetlands on the sitc. 5.
