<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 04-18 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DIRECTING STAFF TO COORDINATE WITH THE NECESSARY ELECTED <br />OFFICIALS AND FEDERAL AGENCIES TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON RADIONUCLIDE <br />CONTAMINATION AND THE CURRENT STATUS OF DECONTAMINATION EFFORTS AT THE <br />TWIN CITIES ARMY AMMUNITION PLANT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Alliant Techsystems, the current defense contractor at the Twin Cities Army Ammunition <br />Plant (TCAAP), produced small caliber ammunition with depleted uranium within Building 504 at TCAAP; and <br /> <br />\VIIEREAS, this work was done under a license provided by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has jurisdiction and regulatory authority over the use <br />and any necessary decontamination associated with the use of depleted uranium on the site; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the TCAAP Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) has recently facilitated public forums to <br />discuss the status of existing radionuclide contamination and decontamination efforts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the course of the forums it was indicated that the site has been decontaminated and <br />the waste will be shipped off site next spring; and <br /> <br />\VHEREAS, further information, documentation, and analysis is needed to ascertain the potential <br />impacts to the site; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to ensure that the site has been successfully decontaminated. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota, <br />that staff is dirc'Cted to coordinate with the necessary elected officials and federal agencies, particularly the <br />Nuclear Regulatory Commission, to provide information on radionuclide contamination and current status of <br />decontamination efforts at the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant. <br /> <br />ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HIL,LS THIS 12th DAY OF <br />JANUARY, 2004. <br /> <br />Beverly Aplikowski, MAYOR <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Michelle \Volfe, Administrator <br /> <br />\\Earth\Admin\Coundl\Resolutjons\2004\04-18~ Requesting Ihe Nuclear Regulatory Commission Pm~'ide lnformaHon on Radionudide Cle-an Up <br />at TeMP .doc <br />
