We also understand that you will be
receiving a presentation from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department on
Tuesday, January 20, 2004, regarding the services they offer you through the
Sheriff's Contract.

By way of this correspondence, we would like to provide you with information that
we believe will be helpful to you as you learn about the Sheriff's Department's
Services and consider your options. The following highlights some of the
components of that service that are of particular value from our perspective.

1. Contract Communities Committee. Each municipality designates a
liaison to the Sheriff's Department. The liaison represents the municipality during
the monthly Contract Communities Committee meetings, and on other matters
related to law enforcement services. The purpose of the Committee is to develop
short-term and long range plans, prepare contracts and budgets, and coordinate
and analyze police service. Most of this work is performed during our monthly
meetings which are normally held on the third Thursday of each month. The
Committee has a Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary, each of which rotate from
Community to Community according to an established schedule. Arden Hills'
liaison functioned as Chair in 2001.

e

A meeting schedule with agendas is adopted at the beginning of each year,
Attached is the proposed 2004 Meeting Schedule and Agendas. The agendas
are adjusted as needed throughout the year to include any additional subjects or

@

'.ncl.o;u>p~r
