Homes on Ridgewood Court are served by
watermain on Siems Court and Ridgewood Road. The watermain was constructed in 1968 and
1970. There have been a series of watermain breaks in the neighborhood over the past few years
predominantly located along Arden Place. As has been the case in other Neighborhoods with
similar aged watermain systems, the valves and hydrants become more difficult to operate and
pose potential problems with the City's ability to isolate the system for repair and fight fires.

PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT/PROJECT COORDINATION
We have conducted the following meetings for the project:

. January 26, 2005 (Informatioual meeting concerning PMP philosophy and issues with
Ridgewood Neighborhood)
. March 23, 2005 (Follow up to January 26th meeting)
. Lake Johanna Island Beach Club - April2Slh (General annual meeting, included
Ridgewood Improvement Project and issues conceming it)
. Rice Creek Watershed - May 91h (Met with Rice Creek Watershed District on sight to
discus wetland use)
. Lake Johanna Island Beach Club - July 14'h (Leadership of Beach Club met to discuss
use of wetland and storm treatment alternatives such as infiltration techniques)

The outcome of the meetings has been very positi ve and residents seem to be receptive to the
overall project need and goals expressed by City staff and URS. Several residents have voiced
issues that they want to be included in the design, which include maintaining a rustic appeal to
the neighborhood, improving water quality prior to discharge to Lake Johanna, drainage issues
on private propelty, desire to maintain street widths(no widening), save trees, to include
infiltration techniqlles for storm water management, and general acceptance for the utilization of
the wetland to improve water quality for Lake Johanna.

PROJECT COORDINATION
We have sent out letters notifying private utility companies (Qwest, Xcel Gas, Xcel Electric, and
Comcast) of the project and to collect information on their utilities within the neighborhood.
We met with Operation & Maintenance Staff to discuss the existing issues and problems with the
streets and drainage, sanitary sewer system and watermain that they have.

EristiHg R{)od'vva:r Con.dirimv;

URS

5
