URS staff will contact homeowners prior to constmction, explain the anticipated grading and dri veway reconstruction limits and obtain a temporary right of entry from them at that time. Limits of construction will be determined during final design. ROUNDABOUT DISCUSSI01>i Roundabout Option: Roundabout at Ridgewood Road & Arden Place and Siems Court & Arden Place. After a public meeting there was expressed interest for an island in the Siems Court cul-de-sac for aesthetics. Upon review, the small size of the cul-de-sac makes this option too restrictive to traffic movements. There are two intersections in the project area that could be aesthetically enhanced without disruption to vehicle traffic. Small roundabouts could be constructed at the intersections of Ridgewood Road and Arden Place and at the intersection of Siems Court and Arden Place. The resulting islands could be aesthetically landscaped and/or used for runoff infiltration. Depending on the diameter selected for the roundabout, some removal of existing landscaping, rock retaining walls and trees may be required. The roundabouts would add approximately $32,000 to the project. Exhibit A4 illustrates the potential Roundabout concept. SIDEW ALK DISCUSSION As part of the overall neighborhood improvement philosophy, we have considered including sidewalk along the streets. There have been no residents requesting sidewalk to date. The most viable location for a sidewalk is along the eastern side of Ridgewood Road from Lake Johanna BI vd to the Island Beach Club access dri ve. Impacts resulting from constructing the sidewalk along the eastern edge of Ridgewood Road include retaining wall constmction along Ridgewood Road and the loss of at least 5 trees. The Ridgewood Road sidewalk would add approximately $65,000 to the project cost which would be 50% assessed. Constructing a sidewalk in this location will have an impact on the infiltration basin that are proposed along Ridgewood Road as part of the drainage plan. Due to the narrow confines of the neighborhood and existing landscaping and trees near the roadway, a sidewalk would incur significant cost as well as disruption to the neighborhood. Constructing a sidewalk anywhere within the neighborhood is therefore not recommended. URS to
