City of Arden Hills
BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota
Active Community Planning Grant #499

.

assist in developing improvcd techniques for implementing new and established goals into our

policymaking, community planning efforts, and the built environment.

City staff is accustomed to working cooperatively to develop and implement a wide array of

projects throughout the City. Succcssful incorporation of active living principles into thc

Comprehensivc Plan and implementation of these principles into the built environment will

require extcnsive community input from residents, committees, commissions, the county, local

businesses such as Guidant and Land O'Lakes, local colleges such as Bethel and Northwestern,

the Moundsvicw School District, local churches, and the staff and City Council, just to name a

few. City Staff and members ofthe PTRC are committed to attending presentations about active

living, working with the T A provider, and obtaining further information as nccessary to facilitate

. this process.

The City Council has rcviewed this application and has indicated a desire to incorporate active

living principles into the City's policymaking and community planning efforts as much as

practical. Past support for active living and, more specifically, community planning is

demonstrated by the 1998 Comprehensive Plan, the TCAAP Framework Vision, and the 2002

Parks, Trails, and Open Space Plan-all of which have bccn adopted by the Council after

significant community and staCCinvolvement. Thc recently developed 2006 PTRC Vision is a

culmination of efforts by residents, the PTRC, City staff, and City governmcnt to incorporate the

idea of active living in greater detail and broader scope into the City as a whole.

. SECTION Two: THE WORK PLAN

5
