Staff is putting together some sheets that the public <br />can fill out when they come to a meeting, which we will implement soon. <br /> <br />There are probably a few different "categories" for discussion: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Public Hearings - The purpose for a public hearing is typically based in statute or city <br />code. The purpose of a public hearing is to hear public input, and there are processes <br />and formats for conducting public hearings. <br />Items not on the Agenda - We have a specific item on the regular meeting agendas <br />for anyone wishing to address Council regarding an item not on the agenda: "Public <br />Inquiries/Informational" _ <br />Items on the Agenda, and not a Public Hearing - This is often where city councils are <br />unclear in terms of if and when to provide for public comment. 1 believe this is one <br />area that may need some discussion. <br />Work Sessions - Work sessions are specifically designed for the Mayor and City <br />Council to discuss topics as a council. Work sessions are open to the public but <br />typically the public is not invited to speak. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />It may be good to have an informal policy regarding numbers 3 and 4 above, since it is <br />inconsistency that usually results in issues.
