Ngo stated he would not have any problem with moving the trees and hc believed he <br /> probably should move the trees, <br /> Mr. Gonzalez stated he lived next door to this property and he asked what would he be allowed <br /> to do whcn he upgraded his home next year. He noted large trees were bcing replaccd with <br /> smaller ones. which interlcrcd with his view and not the Ngo's view. He noted there \vas an <br /> illegal act done and nothing was done to address it. He believed this action devalued his <br /> property, i\'layor Aplikowski asked why would this stop Mr. Gonzalez rrom doing what he <br /> wanted to do with his yard, <br /> :\-Ir. Gonzalez statcd the trees removed were shade trces and that afrected his property. He stated <br /> the applicant was getting what they wanted. :\'Iayor Aplikowski stated the applicant had been <br /> working with the City on this, <br /> MOTION: Councilmcmbcr Larson mo\'ed and Mayor Aplikowski scconded a motion <br /> to add onc additional condition to pro\'ide tor the movcment of some or <br /> thc larger trecs towards the centcr of the property both down on the lakc <br /> and on thc land bctween Lake Johanna Boulevard and the home subject to <br /> starr s approval. <br /> Councilmember Holden asked how f~ll' to the center orthe property was Councilmember Larson <br /> recommending. Motion to Authorize City Staff to Apply for a Grant throu2h the Safe Routes to <br /> School with the l\'linnesota Department of Transportation <br /> 1\ls, Olson stated thc Minncsota Departmcnt of Transportation has recently announced its 2007 <br /> Safc Routes to School (SRTS) Grant Program. The trail segmcnts that County and City staff has <br /> tentatively selected for this grant arc in the Valentine Hills Elementary School area, She noted <br /> the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee recommendcd approval. <br /> Council member Holden asked if this grant would pay Jor engineering costs also. :\'Is. Olson <br /> rcsponded that was con'cct. <br /> Councilmember Holden asked if they could apply this to the high school also, Ms. Olson <br /> respond cd the grant was for K-8 only at this time. <br />
