Il, <br />Recent Changes <br />Governance and Organization <br />In 1989, there were three vice presidents, which included Academic <br />Affairs, Administration and Auxiliary Services (which included radio <br />ministry). Currently, there are four vice presidents, which are Aca- <br />demic Affairs, College Administration, Development and Radio. Also, <br />there is also an Assistant Vice President for Business and Finance. <br />The academic organizational structure has changed from 6 divisions <br />to twelve departments, thus allowing more specialization within disci- <br />plines. <br />Human Resources <br />The student body has grown from 908 FTE in 1988 to 1,547 in 2000. <br />This is a 707o increase over 12 years. (Note: Fall 2003 enrollment was <br />1630 average FTE.) <br />Over the same 12 year period, faculty has increased from 45 full-time <br />and 31 part-time members, to 82 full-time and 96 part-time in 2000. <br />Catalogue says 69 FT and 28 PT. Self Study says 70 FT and 50 PT in <br />1998. In 1989, 427o of faculty held terminal degrees, and in 2000, <br />% of faculty held terminal degrees. <br />Financial Resources <br />In 1997, the Board of Trustees established the Northwestern Founda- <br />tion, a separate 501(c)3 corporation to secure, receive and manage gifts <br />to Northwestern College and Radio. <br />Physical Resources <br />The Berntsen Resource Center was constructed in 1992, and the Erick - <br />sen Center was constructed in 1996. <br />Two existing apartment buildings adjacent to campus property were <br />purchased for student residences: South Campus in 1992 and South- <br />east Campus in 19988. <br />Reynolds Field, a 10 acre outdoor athletic complex was built in 1997, <br />and in 1997, 6 regulation tennis courts were built near the Ericksen <br />Center. <br />The Child Development Center was established in The Commons of <br />EagleCrest Retirement Community (directly south of Lydia). <br />In 1997 the Denler Art Gallery was completed in the Totino Fine Arts <br />Center. <br />NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PARTNERS & SIRNY ARCHITECTS PAGE 2.2 <br />
