APPENDIX ■ C
due to converting 12 study carrels to electronic public
workstations.
The seating capacity seems to be inflated. If one does not
count the seats available for specialize/unique usage, there
is a seating capacity for only about 160 individuals (about
10% of student head count).
More faculty and staff offices are needed. Part of a storage
room was converted to a small office.
The archive room can only handle a small collection. To
accommodate scholars, this room should be doubled or
tripled in size.
Media Services is located in the lower level of the BRC but
it doesn't need to be in the library.
Possible Solutions:
Distribute collections to other areas of the campus.
Build an attachment or a free standing building on the
South end of the current library.
Note: Larry will check to see what the new standard number
is between the stacks.
He will also check on the standards for seat capacity for
the library.
5. Technology Handout:
Steve Morrow, Director of Information Technologies gave his
report.
The technology area is scheduled to be renovated in the
coming fiscal year. This will allow more room for current
growth needs.
- George Ryon's office will be expanded
- The restrooms will still be maintained.
- Current business office storage will be moved to a
storeroom by the president's entrance.
- Potential growth for staffing needs in Information Systems
could happen.
Steve wants to get technology bridged with other depart-
ments.
- A good example is Jeff Wahl, he works in the technology
department but his office is located in the library.
- Distributing Education to all classes electronically. (Distance
Education)
It would be ideal to have a student support space for
computer in Snelling Terrace and Southeast residences.
The College will be requiring students to bring a laptop, but
don't anticipate less lab space needed.
There is a need for proper storage areas.
Assignment for July 17, 2001 meeting: (Please bring assign-
ment to the next meeting)
NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PARTNERS & SIRNY ARCHITECTS APP C.11
