The City, in cooperation <br />with a private developer. is currentlv in the process of purchasinq 585 acres of <br />the TCAAP property alonq the property's western border for redevelopment. <br /> <br />5.2.1 Ramsev County Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Rice Creek traverses the northwestern corner of the former TCAAP property and <br />is an important animal habitat and recreation area. Approximately 112 acres <br />adiacent to the creek were transferred to Ramsey Countv in 2006 for their park <br />and recreation system (map). The County anticipates completion of a trail <br />adiacent to the Rice Cre~k in ttJ~ summer of 2008. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Parks and Recreation also owns a 7.2 acre parcel adiacent to <br />Lexinqton Avenue near the Marsden Lake and wetland complex. <br /> <br />5.2.2 Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS) and Army Reserve <br /> <br />Approximatelv 1.560 acres will remain under federal ownership; however. the <br />Minnesota National Guard has a lonq-term lease for most of the land and a small <br />portion is used for the Army Reserve station in the far southeastern corner of the <br />property. This land is expected to remain under federal ownership for the <br />foreseeable future. <br /> <br />The Minnesota National Guard has desiqnated their leased area as the Arden <br />Hills Army Traininq Site iAHATS). Althouqh live munitions firinq are prohibited <br />on the site. the Minnesota National Guard does use the propertv for traininq <br />purposes.
