She stated that they could <br />help people understand how the school came to the decision when they chose the <br />location. <br /> <br />Commissioner Modesette inquired about the location of the previous baseball <br />fields. Ms. Wikelius stated that she isn't sure. <br /> <br />Mr. Wacker demonstrated the location of one ofthe fields, but he wasn't aware of <br />the other two fields. <br /> <br />Commissioner Modesette inquired if there was a plan to bring the baseball fields <br />back at the time they were eliminated. Ms. Wikelius stated that the school had the <br />opportunity to work with Ramsey County to create additional soccer fields. She <br />stated that the team has not had a home field and have been playing in Vadnais <br />Heights. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman inquired ifthe chain link fence in front ofthe dugouts <br />could have additional removable fencing to secure the dugouts when they are not <br />in use. Mr. Wacker stated that there are gates on the dugouts and they could be <br />secured. <br /> <br />Mr. O'Malley stated he appreciates the Planning Commission's patience in <br />considering the decision. He demonstrated how people access the footbaII games <br />and the locations of the previous baseball fields. He stated he doesn't think that <br />the fields are used often for P.E. or practice for other sports. He stated that the <br />way the sun sets there would be another alternative for the location ofthe field. <br />He stated he thinks the dugouts could cause a problem and accessing the parking <br />stalls would be difficult. <br /> <br />Mr. Schneider stated it would be helpful for the neighborhood to learn more about <br />the 20 foot fence, the design of the dugouts, portable restrooms, concession stands <br />and lighting. <br /> <br />Chair Larson closed the public hearing at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa moved, seconded by Commissioner Modesette, to table <br />Planning Case #08-011 for a Conditional Use Permit Amendment at 1900 Lake <br />Valentine Road: for three specific reasons: access, security, and the community. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa stated that he is stiII unclear about the access and control <br />of the gate during the games. He stated he is concerned about the security of the <br />dugouts. He stated that the community would really like to have a discussion <br />with the school. <br />
