<br />Commissioner Modesette inquired about the distance between the posts. Mr. <br />Wacker stated that they are about 20 feet. He stated it may be possible to put a <br />soft cushiony material on the cap, but it wouldn't be durable. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman inquired ifthe caps would be even with the <br />surrounding surface. Mr. Wacker stated that they would be close to the root mass <br />of the grass. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman inquired about the diameter. Mr. Wacker stated they <br />are 2 Y, inches. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman inquired ifthere are any drainage issues in that <br />location of the field. Mr. Wacker stated there aren't and the area is very porous. <br />He stated that there is infrequent drainage off of the field. <br /> <br />Commissioner Modesette inquired ifthere is a plan to close or lock the gate <br />during the games. Mr. Wacker stated he spoke with the school and they indicated <br />that they would be willing to lock and unlock the gate. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa inquired about where the fencing will be stored. Mr. <br />Wacker stated that the panels will be stacked and stored on site. <br /> <br />Chair Larson opened the public hearing at 6:53 p.m. <br /> <br />Chair Larson invited anyone for or against the application to come forward and <br />make comment. <br /> <br />Tim O'Malley, 1851 Gramsie Road, stated that he has lived in this location for <br />about 20 years and they have had a good relationship with the school. He stated <br />that he is concerned about the placement of the stadium. He stated he is also <br />concerned about the parking and traffic. He stated there used to be 3 baseball <br />fields near the proposed area, which resulted in a lot of foot traffic. He stated the <br />easement is a utility easement that adjoins his property. He stated when the fence <br />was constructed he requested that there be a gate placed in the fence for the <br />neighbors to use the fields. He stated that he doesn't think it is practical for the <br />gate to be locked prior to and during games. He stated he is concerned about foul <br />balls coming into his yard, dust, and wheelchair accessibility. He stated the <br />location will be hard for spectators to access. He stated if the field is located at <br />the other end, it would be closer to the concession stands and restrooms. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa inquired ifMr. O'Malley would be in favor of eliminating <br />the gate. Mr. O'Malley stated that he wouldn't because the gate is mutually <br />beneficially. He stated it is nice for the neighborhood kids to have access to the <br />fields, which he doesn't mind. <br />
