It provides for both land <br /> access service and local traffic movements within <br /> residential neighborhoods, commercial areas and <br /> industrial areas. <br /> (b) "Cul-de-sac" is a street with only one outlet. <br /> (c) "Local street" is a street of limited continuity used <br /> primarily for access to the abutting prop- <br /> erties and the local needs of a neighborhood. <br /> (d) "Major arterial" is usually a divided highway <br /> with four or more lanes and serves the major <br /> centers of activity of a metropolitan area, the <br /> highest traffic volume corridors, and the longest <br /> trip desires. The major arterial carries a high <br /> proportion of the total urban area travel on a <br /> minimum mileage. Almost all fully and partially <br /> controlled access facilitiea are a part of this class. <br /> (e) «Minor arterial» street system interconnets with <br /> and augments the urban major arterial system <br /> and provides service to trips of moderate length at <br /> j somewhat lower level of travel mobility than <br /> ~ major arterials. This system distributes travel to <br /> i <br /> geographical areas smaller than those identified <br /> I~ with the higher system. <br /> (f) "Street width" is the shortest distance between the <br /> lines delineating the right-of-way of a street. <br /> (g) "Thoroughfare" is a fast or heavy traffic street of <br /> considerable continuity and used primarily as a <br /> traffic artery for intercommunication among large <br /> areas. <br /> Subdivider: Any person commencing proceedings under <br /> this chapter to effect a subdivision of land hereunder for <br /> himself or for another. <br /> Subdivision: The division of a parcel of land into two (2) <br /> or more lots or parcels, any of which resultant parcels is less <br /> than five (5) acres in area or is lesa than three hundred <br /> (300) feet in width. In addition "subdivision" shall include <br /> 1278 <br /> <br /> <br /> ~ <br />
