In no case shall there be more <br /> than twelve (12) inches of pipe exposed between the <br /> point of entrance through the basement floor and the <br /> valve. A gate valve shall also be installed on the house <br /> side of the meter. All fittings and pipe shall be red <br /> brass or bronze, except that pipe over two (2) inches <br /> in diameter may be iron. Gate valves shall be brass <br /> one hundred twenty-five (125) pounds standard, except <br /> valves larger than two (2) inches may be iron body. <br /> There shall also be installed on the house side of the <br /> meter gate valve a three-quarter inch side outlet tee <br /> I and lu to rovide for future inatallation of a two (2 <br /> P g P ) <br /> inch air chamber or shock absorber. Use of fire hydrante. <br /> No person shall operate fire hydrants or interfere in any <br /> way with the water system without firat obtaining a permit <br /> to do so from the commissioner, with the exception of <br /> suthorized city employees on city business or fire-fighting <br /> peraonnel. Permita may be iasued by the commissioner in <br /> accordance with the following procedure, to wit: <br /> (a) Permit to use a fire hydrant shall be issued for each <br /> individual job or contract, for a minimum of thirty <br /> (30) days and for such additional thirty (30) day <br /> periods as the commissioner shall determine. The <br /> permit ahall atate the location of the hydrant and <br /> shall be for the use of that hydrant alone, egcept as <br /> otherwise apecified therein. <br /> (b) The applicant for a permit shall make an advance <br /> cash deposit in such amount as has been established <br /> by the council in a resolution adopted thereby.
