ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - August 11, 2008

8

path is expected to service those people at the Holiday Inn and the path would be
connected to the parking lot.

Councilmember Grant asked if the warming house was moved to Hazelnut Park
today as expected.

Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson stated that the movers did come
out today but due to the death of a co-worker they would not be moving the
warming house until Monday, August 18, 2008. The plan was to do the prep work
during the day and move the warming house that evening.

Councilmember Holden asked how much over budget the project was.

Parks and Recreation Manager Olson stated that at this time she is unable to
provide this information. She stated that not all the costs have been submitted. She
also stated that she would bring this information to the Council as soon as all the
information was available.

Councilmember Grant requested an update regarding I&I, smoke testing, manhole
inspections, and how many manholes are expected to go out to bid.

Public Works Director Hoag stated that the City had received two quotes for
smoke testing. The cost for this was between $25,000 and $30,000, not the $8,000
the City initially thought. He stated that he was working with Bonestroo to
determine if there was something that the City could do that was more in the $8,000
range or if Staff needed to bring a new request to the Council for a different
amount. He stated that all the manholes that have been inspected are now entered
into the database. He stated that Bonestroo evaluated them and pulled all those
manholes that had a rank of two for further analysis in order to put together a bid
request. He stated that to date Staff have inspected 819 of 1043 manholes. He
explained that the number of manholes has changed because Staff found ones that
were not part of the original maps they were working form.

Councilmember Grant asked for additional explanation regarding the further
analysis that Bonestroo would be doing on the manholes.

Public Works Director Hoag stated that the file would be pulled for all the
manholes that received a rank of two and the type of repairs that are required would
be put together in order to put together a request for bid.

Councilmember Grant asked when the Council can expect to see the bid.
