ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - December 8, 2008

16

Councilmember Holden stated that the Lexington Avenue Trail the Council had
received was for $54,000 and it is now listed at $62,645. She asked where the
increase had come from.

Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson stated that the figure for the
concrete work had been incorrect. Staff would attempt to find a partner for 50% of
this cost but Staff had left the full amount in the budget.

Councilmember Holden proposed that the Council eliminate part of this cost,
making it engineering costs only and have the engineering costs for the CP Rail
Bridge added.

Councilmember Grant stated that the reason the Lexington Avenue Trail is in the
budget is because it makes sense to do the project now because of the Holiday Inn.
He proposed that it was a better option to remove the Cummings Park Irrigation
project and the Hazelnut Outfield Fence project and this would leave only $4,500 to
come up with.

Councilmember Holden stated that this would be acceptable.

Mayor Harpstead stated that this would make sense and the remaining $4,500
should be able to be reached.

Councilmember Grant stated that Council had talked about the Sanitary Sewer
Mitigation of $100,100 and the Sewer Lining Rehab of $80,000 and about 50% of
the lining rehab could be counted against the Met Council goal. This would provide
the additional amount needed to offset the CP Rail Project. The Office Expansion
Project is also an area that could be reviewed in order to achieve the additional
$4500. He proposed that the Hazelnut Outfield Fence and the Cummings Park
Irrigation projects be stricken.

Mayor Harpstead clarified that the additional $5,000 be taken from one of the
other two areas that Councilmember Grant had mentioned.

Councilmember Grant stated that the additional $5,000 should be taken from the
Sewer Rehab project making this a $75,000 budget item.

Councilmember Holden stated that the $450,000 for the County Road E Bridge
had not been presented to Council before. She asked where these figures had come
from.
