<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - December 8, 2008 <br /> <br />29 <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated that the fact that these roads are still being held <br />together must show that the sub soils are pretty good. <br /> <br />Mr. Winter stated that the sub soils are pretty decent and there is no peat or soft <br />material present. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead asked if preliminary meeting had been held with the <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Giga stated that there had been preliminary meetings and the most <br />recent meeting was December 2, 2008. She also stated that neighborhood had been <br />told that the preliminary date for the public hearing was January 12,2009 and once <br />the date is set there will be two weeks advance notice for the meeting. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Harpstead moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a <br />motion to Adopt Resolution 2008-061: A Resolution Receiving the <br />2009 Pavement Management Program Feasibility Report and Ordering <br />a Public Hearing for Improvement on January 12, 2009. The motion <br />carried unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated that the City needed to be sure to inform residents <br />that may wish to have work done on their driveways by the same construction <br />company doing the streets need to be informed about the grade of concrete that is <br />being used. The City has had a problem with this in the past. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead stated that according to the charts there were also several <br />driveways with varying widths. He asked if this would be looked at from a code <br />stand point. He also sated that this needs to be clear to the residents as well. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Giga stated that this would be looked at. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked if a resident has a bituminous driveway and they <br />want a bituminous apron rather than the concrete apron that the City is providing. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Giga stated that installing a concrete apron has become a City <br />standard. She also stated that at the public hearing Staff would provide answers to <br />these questions. The standard of putting in concrete could also be changed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant asked if the PMP standard street width is 28 feet. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Giga stated she would look this up for the Council. She also stated <br />most of the streets varied in width and Staff has looked at reducing the width on <br />
