PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> March 17, 2009 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> Ms. Olson stated this item will move forward for final design giving <br /> g ivin staff time to meet with <br /> Ramsey County further. She indicated she would report back to this committee once the designs <br /> were complete where a recommendation could be made to Council. Chair Peck requested he be <br /> notified the date and time of this meeting. <br /> 2. Safe Routes to School <br /> Ms. Olson updated the Committee on the Safe Routes to School information. She noted Ramsey <br /> County Parks and Recreation has agreed to provide a crosswalk for this project. Ms. Olson <br /> . P J <br /> indicated this was a $15,000 donation and would greatly benefit the completion of the route but <br /> that additional funding sources were still needed. She explained she has also suggested this <br /> g <br /> project be completed in phases to allow for the $175,000 to be used in 2009 with the completion <br /> date some time in 2010 allowing the City to apply for additional ants,while continuing to work <br /> . � g <br /> with Ramsey County. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated Jody Ungers was very supportive of this project and stated additional <br /> P <br /> funding could be available in 2010 for the culvert. She explained she would be bringing this <br /> item back to the Council in April for further discussion after additional information has been <br /> gathered. <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to communicate to Ramsey Y Count that <br /> the Arden Hills PTRC supports the Mounds View High School trail as an <br /> extension of the Elmer L. Anderson Memorial Trail and that it be moved up on <br /> the priority list within their Master Plan, seconded by Committee Member Scott. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> D. Trail Shmne <br /> Ms. Olson stated Trail Signage was suggested by the PTRC a number of g <br /> ears ago but has not <br /> Y <br /> been completed due to numerous trails that were still under construction. The PTRC has been in <br /> favor of placing signage on the Elmer L. Anderson Memorial Trail to signify the fact it was a <br /> Y <br /> memorial trail. <br /> Ms. Olson stated the Council has requested a trail signage a proposal from the PTRC in order for <br /> this item to proceed, and that the Elmer L. Anderson trail would be a great lace to start. She <br /> . p <br /> indicated a synopsis was completed for the trail signage with a budget of$15,000 for 2009 and <br /> $10,000 for 2010. Ms. Olson stated the County would like to see signage along this trail as well. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated location, design, and the information needed on each sign would need to be <br /> discussed. She reviewed a sign location map with the Committee suggesting that the locations <br /> be similar at each entrance. <br /> Ms. Hilgers suggested trail signs and trail maps be laced in key locations and that a sign not be <br /> P Y gn <br /> placed at each and every street crossing. <br />
