Recommendation <br /> The Committee recommended the trail signs proceed with the proposed design, reducing the <br /> number of smaller vinyl signs with the expense not to exceed $15,000, with the benches being <br /> discussed at a future date. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated Mr. Hames would be presenting this information to the Council on <br /> November 9, 2009 and that she would like a motion from the Committee to bring forward. <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Hilgers motioned to accept the Elmer L. Andersen trail sign <br /> design as presented and that it be recommended to Council, with the number of <br /> small signs being scaled back, seconded by Committee Member Straumann. The <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> B. Memorial Bench Policy and Bench Implementation <br /> Ms. Olson reviewed a brochure on the memorial bench policy for the City of Arden Hills and <br /> asked if the Committee would review and comment on. She noted the policy was reviewed by <br /> the City's attorney and that no legal objections were found. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated there was a range in bench prices and that the City could assist with the <br /> pricing if a resident were only able to provide a portion of the bench funding. Ms. Garretson <br /> suggested that there be only a couple of bench styles to provide more uniformity in the benches <br /> throughout the City. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding the bench pricing and bench styles. The Committee agreed to go <br /> with one uniform memorial bench in the royal style with arms. <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Garretson motioned to recommend the adoption of the Arden <br /> Hills Memorial Bench Implementation and Policy, seconded by Committee <br /> Member Straumann. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> Ms. Olson then reviewed a park bench map with the location of existingbenches throughout the <br /> g <br /> City. She noted that the triangles on the map suggest future bench locations. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated that she would be recommending to Council that they implement lement $5,000 in <br /> the CIP for benches each year for the next five years, which would eight equate to benches a <br /> q <br /> year. She explained that the City was currently installing four benches at Linde 's and replacing <br /> Y p g <br /> two in the Chatham Trails next week. Discussion ensued regarding the bench design used b the <br /> g g � Y <br /> Eagle Scouts and Ramsey County. <br />
