ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—May 24, 2010 7
9. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND REQUESTS
Councilmember Holden stated the Council had approved the sewer-lining project in the Consent
Calendar. This bid came in significantly under bid and Staff is open to looking at other areas that
could be added to this project. She asked if the Council would be open to adding additional lining
to this project.
Civil Engineer Giga stated Staff could work with the contractor to determine how much could be
added to the contract and what areas would be most beneficial to add at this time.
Mayor Harpstead directed Staff to work with the contractor for the sewer-lining project to
expand the project.
Councilmember Holden stated the TCAAP update memorandum referenced the FOST site and it
should actually be the FOSET site. She also requested an update on I&I including the number of
properties that are paying the $100 per month for being out of compliance.
Councilmember Grant requested the aging for the out of compliance properties as well to see
how many of these properties are over sixty days.
Councilmember Grant asked for an update on the Lexington Trail sidewalk area in front of Cub
Foods.
Parks and Recreation Manager Olson stated Staff is working with the City Attorney and has
been communicating with the property manager via e-mail. They have the document that is
working on the waiver of appeal, which is going through their attorney at this time. Once this is
approved then it will be brought back to Council for approval. Once it is approved it will be put
out to bid.
Councilmember Grant requested an update on the Elmer L. Anderson Trail and Safe Routes to
School Project.
Civil Engineer Giga stated the last retaining walls are being finished and the class 5 is being
installed. They are expecting to pave this trial and the Venus Trail this week if weather permits.
They are also working on hydrant relocations on County Road E2. The sewer replacement is
scheduled in the next two weeks. Xcel Energy has scheduled to come next week and relocate the
power poles.
Councilmember Holden asked if Xcel Energy is paying to relocate these poles.
Civil Engineer Giga stated Xcel was paying to relocate the poles.
Councilmember Grant stated Valentine Park did not flood this year but there are still low spots
in the park. The water table could be an issue. It seems to be a high water table. There are two
different plans for Valentine Park and Council was going to wait to see how things progressed
