PHS of Arden Hills. Among the 36 Minnesota sites, the Arden Hills site is truly unique. No other
location is zoned R -1 and R -2 and filled with single family homes on all four sides of the site. A 4 -story
building large enough to encapsulate Target Greatland is completely out of character with the
surrounding neighborhood.
The developers have told us this access will only be used by emergency vehicles.
Employees, even though their parking spaces are the closest spaces to this access road, won't use
it. We are expected to believe staff will wind their way through the long parking lot to Lake
We have been told either the city or fire department requires a second access to the main
building, and the only location that works is on Shorewood Drive. This choice is puzzling and
concerning to us for several reasons. First the location concerns us because we have children
walking to the corner of Wheeler and County D to catch the school buses. (A proposed sidewalk
was not requested by us. It requires children to cross the access road directly to get on the
sidewalk.) Secondly, a blind corner is close to the proposed intersection, and thirdly, in the
winter the sloping road can be treacherous to negotiate. Safety will be an issue for everyone using
the road. Why expose people to risk unnecessarily?
