Ms. Belz stated the Fire Department has not reviewed the new access that is being <br />proposed. <br />Chair Thompson opened the public hearing at 7:05 p.m. <br />Chair Thompson invited anyone for or against the application to come forward and make <br />a comment. <br />Ms. Pearl Grayam, 3220 Lake Johanna Blvd., Arden Hills, stated she is a resident of <br />Presbyterian Homes and she likes the location of the facility. The building does have <br />problems that need to be resolved including the heating and air conditioning system, the <br />dishwashers in the kitchen, the residents could use more bathroom space, the elevators <br />are not dependable, and the plumbing needs to be modernized. She requested <br />Presbyterian Homes consider using the space they would have used for the library for an <br />inside Chapel. She asked that the Commission consider approving this project. <br />The Planning Commission recessed due to technical problems at 7:10. <br />The Planning Commission reconvened at 7:13. <br />Mr. Milo Lokken, 3220 Lake Johanna Blvd., Arden Hills, stated he is a resident of <br />Presbyterian Homes' assisted living program. He has excellent care at this facility and <br />would not be where he is today if it had not been for the help he has received at <br />Presbyterian Homes. Anything that can be done to improve this facility would be a p lus <br />and provide more opportunities for other people who need assistance. <br />Mr. David Millett, director of Environmental Services /Engineering, Presbyterian Homes, <br />stated he is in support of this redevelopment project. It will provide Presbyterian Homes <br />the opportunity to improve the facility for current and future residents and better support <br />the challenges that residents face. <br />Ms. Vicky Henkel, 1882 Glenpaul Avenue, Arden Hills, stated her appreciation of what <br />Presbyterian Homes has done to be sensitive to the needs and desires of the <br />neighborhood. <br />Ms. Lisa Ambi, Presbyterian Homes, shared a letter from a family member of Bill <br />Ostlund. Bill is a current resident of Presbyterian Homes. The letter is in support of the <br />proposed project. <br />Mr. Jim Day, 3242 Sandeen Road, Arden Hills, stated concerns about the loading area. <br />Currently the residents on Sandeen Road hear all the noise of the trucks loading and <br />unloading and coming and going from the facility. These noises can be a nuisance. He <br />asked if Presbyterian Homes could make the distance the trucks needed to backup to <br />make deliveries and pick ups shorter or install a circular driveway to eliminate the need <br />to backup. He also stated Presbyterian Homes has not maintained the vegetation <br />
