Commissioner Zimmerman asked if the Ramsey County Sheriff had been contacted
regarding the problems with speeders and people not stopping at stop signs.
Mr. Momtillon stated he had not contacted the Sheriff regarding the issues.
Ms. Sue Ellen Campbell, 3248 Sandeen Road stated she had concerns about the traffic
and she would be in support of the City doing a cul -de -sac or some sort of bump out in
the road that would change the traffic patterns is this area. She stated she did not believe
a sign would be enough to prevent drivers from taking a right onto Sandeen and speeding
through the neighborhood. She stated that the elimination of the parking lot would
reduce the number of people leaving the facility from this location.
Commissioner Hames asked if the road could be marked as "Local Traffic Only
City Planner Beekman stated this is something Staff could look into.
Mr. Mehrkens stated Presbyterian Homes is supportive of making adjustments to the
intersection. Currently they are looking for the best solution from an engineering
standpoint. He stated Presbyterian Homes was already reducing the number of parking
spaces available.
Mr. Steve Nelson 3475 Siems Court, Arden Hills, stated he also owns 3280 Sandeen
Road and he has concerns about the street. The residents have not seen the contours or
grading of this property and he would like to know what the effects of water runoff will
be to the neighborhood. He stated he would like to see the building stay at two stories in
height as well.
Ms. Candace McCloskey, 3290 Lake Johanna Boulevard, Arden Hills, stated she is
concerned about the proposed height of the building. She asked if it would be possible
for Presbyterian Homes to bring in equipment that could show residents what the
proposed height will look like. She stated the proposed increase in density is fourteen
people but there is no indication what the increase in square footage will be with this
proposal.
Mr. Joe Rivard, 3083 Shorewood Lane, Roseville, stated the proposed plans by
Presbyterian Homes are too big for this particular parcel. The intersection at Fairview
and County Road D is already a busy intersection and this project will increase the
dangers of this intersection. He stated Presbyterian Homes is disregarding the dangerous
erous g
propensities of this project. This is the wrong place for this type of development and it is
too ambitious.
Ms. Annette Phillips, 3084 Shorewood Lane, Roseville, stated Roseville residents were
not made aware of this project until recently. She expressed concerns about keeping the
area south of Presbyterian Homes as a residential area. She also expressed concerns
about the increased traffic on Wheeler. She requested that the alignment of the entrance
to Presbyterian Homes and Wheeler be evaluated.
