would send out these flyers with the quarterly utility bills and Wargo would cover the cost of printing.
Wargo and the City would also hand out these flyers as part of their normal business with the public. We
discussed the fact that there will be competition with other interests over envelope space and we may not get
our notices in every quarter.
I will follow up this meeting with an e-mail note to Ms. Krista Toomerdahl, Wargo's Graphic Designer to
work out what the flyers will look like.
Sand Vollevball Court
No current updates.
Concession Stand at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park
Email update from Chairperson Branch:
Mr. Larson has tasked Mr. Paul Palzer and Mr. Mike Jeziorski to come up with a business plan for opening
the Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park concession stand. The city has committed to groom the little league ball
field. They are considering hiring a part time employee whose duties would include the ball field grooming,
cleaning the restrooms and operating the concession stand. This is not a final decision, just movement
toward a concession stand.
Trail Proiect Expectations
The committee had requested Mr. Greg Burmeister, as the Project Manager of the Trail Project to attend the
February meeting if possible to discuss the project as the committee was looking for updates. Mr. Paul
Palzer responded with: I will have an update for the Committee after our next pre-construction meeting in
the spring with a project schedule. The project is on hold and no information is available, so neither Mark
Statz nor Greg Burmeister will be attending the February Parks & Recreation Committee meeting.
Bald Eagle Water Ski Show (Haiden)
Email update from Chairperson Branch:
I told Mr. Dallas Larson, City Administrator, that based on my research and committee discussions, the idea
of a marina on Centerville Lake appears to be unworkable and that we should drop it from consideration.
The real obstacle is that there is no parking. There are other factors, but that alone makes it an unworkable
idea. As the marina is a bad idea. We should encourage the Bald Eagle Water Ski Show to move forward
with their planning. The big thing we want to impress on Bald Eagle is that they must comply with the DNR
standards and regulations.
Native American Artifacts and Historic Sites in Centerville
Email update from Chairperson Branch:
There was a meeting at Wargo Nature Center on Tuesday January 18, 2011 regarding preservation of Native
American artifacts and historic sites in Centerville. The meeting included a representative from the nature
center, MN Science Museum, and life long Centerville residents.
