SECTION 4, cont. <br /> SANITARY SEWER, cont.____ <br /> RECONSTRUCTION The life expectancy for sanitary sewers <br /> is 40 years. If during the first 20 years <br /> after construction, reconstruction is re- <br /> quired, the City shall bear 100% of the <br /> costs. Between 20 and 40 years of sewer <br /> life, any.reconstruction project costs <br /> shall be assessable on a pro -rata basis. <br /> 5% for each additional year. After 40 <br /> years, assessable costs equal the entire <br /> project cost. <br /> SECTION 5 <br /> WATER DISTRIBUTION <br /> POLICY It is recognized that water distribution <br /> improvements benefit both the individual <br /> property and the entire water system. <br /> The improvements bring water service to <br /> individual parcels while also improving <br /> flow and pressure conditions at other <br /> locations. In distributing assessments, <br /> the City Council will try to strike a <br /> balance between individual and system- <br /> wide benfits. <br /> TRUNK Definition: Trunk water systems are de- <br /> WATER fined as those improvements necessary to <br /> SYSTEMS provide, purify and distribute water <br /> throughout the City. Such improvements <br /> shall include treatment facilities, wells, <br /> hydrants, water towers and watermains <br /> eight (8) inches in diameter or greater. <br /> Assessable Cost: The assessable cost of <br /> a trunk water facility equals up to a <br /> maximum of 50% of the total cost of the <br /> improvement. The remainder of the trunk <br /> costs shall be paid through core connec- <br /> tion charges. <br /> 7 <br />
